Freight & shippingCubic volume measures space; dimensional weight estimates a billing basis; density describes weight per unit of space. A pallet floor plan answers a different question again: whether complete handling units fit under its geometric assumptions. Start with packed measurements, then compare the relevant physical and commercial constraints separately. A low quoted rate does not correct an oversized package or a load above its allowed payload.
Keep the shipment boundary, equipment, units, and service calendar consistent as you move between tools. Use delivery dates for working-day and cutoff assumptions, and transit-time planning for the entered travel and stop durations. Before booking, confirm the carrier agreement, actual equipment, accessorial requirements, and service availability. Retain the assumptions with the estimate so the final invoice and actual delivery can be compared on the same basis.
