Validate the numeric length and GS1 modulo-10 check digit of an entered GTIN while preserving every leading zero.
Length and arithmetic only. No number is assigned, repaired, or verified against the GS1 registry.
This checks a full 8-, 12-, 13-, or 14-digit identifier against the GS1 check-digit arithmetic. Numbers remain text so leading zeros are not discarded. A 14-character zero-padded representation is shown for comparison. The entered check digit is compared with the calculated value; a mismatch is reported rather than silently changing the identifier.
A check-digit test helps detect certain transcription mistakes in a complete entered GS1 identifier. Preserve leading zeros and select the intended identifier length before validating.
A passing checksum does not verify company ownership, allocation, registration, or product identity. Compare the number with the authorized item or logistic-unit record. Do not repair a failed identifier by inventing a new final digit for a real shipment.
A passing length/checksum is not proof of GS1 registration, ownership, product authenticity, barcode image quality, or valid allocation. Do not repair a product identifier solely by replacing its check digit. UPC-E, GS1 application-identifier strings, QR content, GLNs, and SSCCs are outside this GTIN-only tool.
GS1 check-digit calculation methodNo. Enter the digits printed under the barcode. Image decoding and print-quality verification are separate checks.
Yes. This is an arithmetic check only. Verify allocation and ownership through the appropriate GS1 service.
