InventoryReorder point estimates when a replenishment review is due; economic order quantity estimates a quantity under a simplified cost model. Min/max and Kanban use different replenishment policies. Days of supply is a stock snapshot, while a dated projection follows demand and receipts through time. Choose the question first rather than treating these outputs as interchangeable purchase instructions.
Use one SKU, location, unit of measure, and planning period unless a tool explicitly supports a broader dataset. Reserved stock, backlog, late receipts, expiry, and quality holds can change what is actually available. ABC value classes help prioritize attention but do not establish clinical, safety, or operational criticality. Review demand quality and lead-time evidence before changing replenishment parameters or disposing of stock.
