Inventory turnover
Measure inventory turns and average days in inventory.
PerformanceEstimate working days to clear a starting backlog from constant daily completion capacity and incoming work.
Estimate working days to clear a starting backlog from constant daily completion capacity and incoming work.
Constant comparable rates on working days only. A finite recovery estimate exists only with positive net clearance, unless the starting backlog is zero.
Completion and arrival rates apply every working day on one consistent work-unit basis. When a positive starting backlog has zero or negative net clearance, no finite recovery time exists in this model. A zero starting backlog needs zero clearance days, but incoming work above completions will create new backlog.
Only capacity left after new incoming work is available to reduce an existing backlog. Compare like units and time periods before estimating the number of periods required.
If arrivals equal or exceed processing capacity, the backlog has no finite clearance time under this steady model. A temporary overtime plan also needs a duration and realistic productivity. Do not interpret an average clearance time as a guaranteed date for every waiting order.
This is a constant-rate workload scenario, not a service-level forecast, queue simulation, or promised recovery date. It excludes working calendars, priorities, variable arrivals, rework, and capacity changes.
A positive backlog cannot clear when incoming work matches or exceeds sustainable completions. Increase completion capacity, reduce incoming work, or model a changing-rate plan.
No. They are working periods over which the entered daily rates apply. A real calendar and actual operating schedule are needed to obtain a date.
