Separate equipment losses into availability, performance, and quality for one comparable production stream and period.
One production stream and period. Undefined component ratios show N/A; no good output gives zero overall OEE.
Run time is planned production time less stops. Convert minutes to seconds before using the ideal cycle. Good units pass the process first time without rework. The default example has 87.5% availability, 83.33% performance, and 98% quality, giving 71.46% OEE. Undefined component ratios display N/A rather than inventing a denominator.
OEE combines availability, performance, and quality for the same equipment and period. Use the ideal cycle time for the product being measured and distinguish planned production time from stopped time.
A single percentage can hide whether loss comes from downtime, slow cycles, or rejects. Inspect the components before choosing an intervention. Incompatible time bases or an outdated ideal cycle can create misleading performance above 100%.
Use compatible counts, time boundaries, and a valid ideal cycle for one production stream. Performance above 100% is rejected as inconsistent input. Exclude non-production periods before entering planned production time. This does not rank suppliers or specify a universal target.
Vorne OEE calculation methodologyNo. Units requiring rework are a first-pass quality loss even if later accepted.
Quality has no denominator when no units are made. Performance also has no denominator when run time is zero. Overall OEE remains zero because no good ideal-cycle time was produced.
